Installation Pre-planning and Requirements

The following items are required in order to successfully install and run Scolo. You may need to work with your local IT department to help with the configuration of some of these requirements.

  • You must have a working instance of a database, either MySQL or SQL Server. This can be installed on the same workstation that Scolo is installed but a separate server is prefered.
  • The person doing the initial installation of Scolo needs to have the ability to create and assign user privileges on the database server.
  • The person installing the software on any workstation needs to have administrative privileges. This is required for the installation and a onetime process for setting database connection values in the registry for all users on that workstation. Once those registry values are set any local user will be able to access those registration values without administrative privileges.
