Scolo Maps

The maps section of Scolo is a way to graphically display your snowmaking system data’s status. Each map screen is intended to have a background image for sections of your resort. With that background image you can then place hydrants, pipe and valve house objects over the top of that image in roughly their location on your mountain.

The hydrant statuses are updated on a timed basis to correctly show their state. All control of the state of the hydrants can also be manipulated from these screens.

Before creating any maps you should populate the database with all of your snowmaking assets. This is done through the Region – Trail Data section of the program.

Map background images are saved to the database. When an image is selected for a map, that graphic is saved to the database. When Scolo starts up, the map image in the applications default image store directory is compared to the database version. If the local computer does not have an image that has been specified, it is copied to the local computer. Certain image file attributes are checked and even if an image exists on the local computer with the same name but these attributes do not match, then it is assumed the database contains an updated image and the local file is over-written.

If a new image has been selected for a map screen the new image is copied to the image store directory.

The image store directory can be modified from the ‘Properties’ menu item.

Only users with Administrator, System Manager or System Configurator permissions are able to create and modify maps.
